This is my grandfather’s old bike. It is, at least temporarily, now my bike. I haven’t been on a bike since ’99 – in Skagway.
With gas prices being what they are – and with my limited need for transporting myself to differing points – I decided to take this baby, with the name "Brittany" and logo "Free Spirit" labeled on the bike, off the garage wall and begin using it…
I’ll be traveling downtown to Wayne State in the Fall — but mostly I stay within a 10 mile radius…So this’ll be good.
Only problem — I don’t know how to work the gears…See next picture…

It should help you figure out how your gears work if you read the part about the gear shifters with 18 gears. My dad had a Free Spirit back in the 80s with gears just like that.
Since when is Wayne a state?
And why is the Bike named Brittany? Is this a name that has been pushed on the bike pre-Kevin days? Or is this something you’ve come up with in order to amuse yourself.
Ah the mysteries of the soon to be Uncle.
