On to the Kitchen

Family Room Floor So with the help of pops, we finally managed to finish the floor.I can still feel it in my lower back and in one funky spot on my ribs.

I’ve checked out a few books from the brary on kitchens — currently getting quite a few ideas from the aptly titled 1001 Ideas for Kitchen Organization.

I imagine this will be more of a process than a back breaking endeavor. A few areas I’ve marked for improvement: herb window garden, knife rack, hooks for hanging mugs, wine rack, stemware hanger – each turn of the page seems to offer something new to think about. One thing I’m definitely going to need is a kitchen cart:

I’ll keep ya posted.

The floor looks spectacular! How many coats of poly did you put down? (I remember having to do more than I wanted to when I redid mine in my old Mount P house.)

    Woot for window herb garden!

We rarely move it, but our microwave and bread maker live on this cart: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80035920

We did three coats of Verathane – which is what we were shooting for. There are some spots we missed where it kinda looks like bubbles – but not that many, and overall it was a success.

Moms had already gone out and purchased me some silver planter thingies for the herb garden before I even mentioned it here – so I’ll definitely be setting that up – though I’m not quite sure which herbs I should be looking to stock up on, I’m sure I’ll figure it out.

I was looking at some ikea carts as well – but I also have a 20% off entire purchase from Bed Bath & Beyond – so they may have won me over with that. PLUS – IKEA changed their FONT! O NOES! ;)

As you know, I’m not the biggest cook ever, but my favorite herb is Oregano. For growing, mint is pretty awesome and will grow like hotcakes. Basil is a nice grower, too. Most herbs are pretty happy to grow in whatever conditions you give them, to be honest.
