Why'd You Leave Town?

Examining the events of a summer past.

The journey is about to begin. A dream I had last night sheds little light on my subconscious thoughts relating to this trip - which hopefully I'll remember when I wake up and write tomorrow - but for now:

I had an alternate family - a father I didn't know, brother - and so on. We packed into the Aerostar and headed for Alaska. When we got there - short travel - no problems - we parked on a frozen lake - but the next afternoon melted the ice and the van sank into crystal clear waters. Deaths started to occur - and initially I thought it was the father - when the cops arrived however - I found my brother knew the location of the bodies - and a gunfight ensued.

So I surfed the net for a while, found several sites on dream interpretation, and proceeded to scroll through their catalogue of symbols. I was surprised and pleased that though there were a few phrases or expressions that varied, the overall outline of symbols remained similar. The water is said to represent the spiritual side of one's self and its current state. In my dream it appears my spiritual state goes through a transition. When we first arrive, or set out on the dream's main journey we find the lake cold, frozen, covered with snow and simply park the van on it. The colors in this section of the dream are a mixture of gray/white/black/blue - something that because I did not document their meaning immediately I have temporarily lost the memory - tough, because it was a matter of some importance -

when the day goes on and warms - the ice melts - under/over time. Visible through the clear waters is the van, on all wheels, on the floor.

My spirit apparently over time will warm itself to maturity, and the clouds of snow will be lifted and vision will be clear. The mode of transportation apparently symbolizes the struggles along the way - apparently the journey in the van was effortless - but it sank suddenly - I can infer this to mean a sudden awakening, which may lead to the ending of my journey as I will have found my calling.

I really should have written down those symbols - then I could actually have a professional digestion of the dream. One thing that I understand is that this trip should be an eventful one - one that apparently will lead to some changes in my life and mental health. Exactly how or when remains to be seen.

What can you say - that hasn't been heard? Vonnegut denies the need for a continuing literature library, albeit sarcastically. But he's right - in a way. Books are now almost as numerous as the stars in the sky. Important now are the outside stimuli - for nearly a month the spirit will try to cleanse itself, overcome any need for outside influences other than the immediate. A cleansing - A clearing in the snow. And to do it the body journeys north - What it means for the body - what it means for the mind. Centered, but never ceased. Movement within taking place faster than without. A vortex. To read, or not to read. The influence, or the presumed blank page. Does the pen roll on its own, or has its path been forced to a point. Is it an etching or a writing. Statement or question.
