All of my Friends in this World of Ours

without comments

Managed to hit one of those valleys tonight. I don’t know if it was the weather – could’ve been. I’ve been meaning to do so many things lately and talk to so many of you…but I’ve been stuck in a rut of routine.

I’m thinking of mainly not calling Dan – or Daaaaaaaaaaan – as he called me back in November. It’s a call I’ve been meaning to return – but just haven’t figured out when it won’t be awkward to make that call.

I’ve been thinking of Ms. Reed – my mom away from mom – who has to deal with heaps upon heaps – and she should know that I love her – but I suck at getting things done.

I’ve been thinking about all my friends that I haven’t been in touch with lately – and who I would love to see more often.

I’ve been thinking about people I shouldn’t be – and even though they despise me – I wish them well.

And that’s probably why I got bored and took the opportunity of a sudden squall to make this video.

I miss you all.

An Afternoon Walk

without comments

Afternoon Walk from kevinyezbick on Vimeo.

I’ve been playing around with iMovie a lot recently. It’s fun. The walk is from this summer, on our way to dinner before a bunch of us went to see the awesomeness that is Avenue Q in East Lansing. The music is from The Desert Sessions Vol 9 & 10: I’m Here for Your Daughter.

Pull my string

Pull my String from kevinyezbick on Vimeo.

From Anne’s party earlier this year.

Sadly, this went on for three more hours.

(You may notice I’ve changed the default theme — to the Agregado theme. I hope to make it my own soon.)

Laugh it off

with one comment

Got a note from Suzanne the other day. She actually wanted to know what happened to this site. Well Suzanne – I started taking myself too seriously. I also realized that the only people reading this site were family members — which was seriously cramping my style as far as being honest.

I still can’t be honest.

In fact — all I can do is offer up this pithy post and wish that time would fast forward.

Monsieur will be here this weekend — which is good. I need my friends now more than ever as I stumble along.

Ariel — I’d send you that letter — but the story keeps rewriting itself. Sorry.

The Bermudez Triangle, by Maureen Johnson

without comments

Nina, Mel and Avery have been inseparable friends for years. As the summer leading into their Senior year in High School rolls around, events unfold that begin driving wedges into their once cohesive bond. When Nina flies across the country for a Summer camp at Stanford, she meets the earthy Steve and swan dives into loving admiration.

Meanwhile, back home, Mel and Avery are beginning to forge a different kind of bond in their relationship. When Nina returns she senses something amiss as the once strong trio has become more akin to a lopsided duet. Finding herself struggling with the realities of the new situation, Nina turns to Steve, whose once comforting and frequent emails slowly begin to wane. It isn’t long before all three girls must begin to examine their relationships with their own selves to understand their relationships with each other.

The Bermudez Triangle is a page turning novel of discovery, relationships, the pain of heartbreak and the glory of friendship.

Awakenings

with one comment

Strange events raised me from my slumbers the past two days.

This morning, upon seeing the remains of a gutted kitchen laid out to the side of the road — smashed cupboards, splintered cabinets, etc. — for pick up by the garbage crew — said environmental technicians chose to notify my neighbor of their displeasure with several blasts of their horn.

Apparently failing to rouse him, or failing to realize he was not in — the crew returned twice more with further annunciations on their horn…

The pile still sits…twenty yards deep, six feet high, as I type…

Previously -

Another neighbor is having her backporch redone…Pressure washing and painted over…There are probably only two or three workers on the job for this one.
I mention this incident for its peculiarity.

These workers woke me with their choral attempts at “I Don’t Want to Wait” — the Dawson’s Creek theme song…
Not quite the song you would expect from home repair experts – but hey…It was much more pleasant – (perhaps more for its bizarre nature than actual skilled rendition) – than waking to the garbage crew percussion section.

Also – the Dawson’s Creek theme song may be nearer to my heart now – since a few friends and I have been role playing the gang in emails ever since the whole Cruise/Holmes saga began…The thread of the email has gone multimedia — with pictures interjected with imagined scenarios…

How they manage to free their time — I don’t know…
