How to disable a superhero
Some days I feel like a superhero librarian. In fact, I’ve been wrestling with the idea of a series of posts that would focus on my technological superhero librarian utility belt – and hopefully getting into the groove of this post will get those juices flowing again and I’ll eventually get around to it.
But every superhero has their kryptonite, and the other day I ran into mine.
But every superhero overcomes their kryptonite – and this is how I overcame mine:
Sometimes it’s best to channel your angry into creativity.
I’d already posted this to twitter – but I thought I’d give the fam a taste of what I sometimes encounter in my daily life.
All of my Friends in this World of Ours
Managed to hit one of those valleys tonight. I don’t know if it was the weather – could’ve been. I’ve been meaning to do so many things lately and talk to so many of you…but I’ve been stuck in a rut of routine.
I’m thinking of mainly not calling Dan – or Daaaaaaaaaaan – as he called me back in November. It’s a call I’ve been meaning to return – but just haven’t figured out when it won’t be awkward to make that call.
I’ve been thinking of Ms. Reed – my mom away from mom – who has to deal with heaps upon heaps – and she should know that I love her – but I suck at getting things done.
I’ve been thinking about all my friends that I haven’t been in touch with lately – and who I would love to see more often.
I’ve been thinking about people I shouldn’t be – and even though they despise me – I wish them well.
And that’s probably why I got bored and took the opportunity of a sudden squall to make this video.
I miss you all.

An Afternoon Walk

I’ve been playing around with iMovie a lot recently. It’s fun. The walk is from this summer, on our way to dinner before a bunch of us went to see the awesomeness that is Avenue Q in East Lansing. The music is from The Desert Sessions Vol 9 & 10: I’m Here for Your Daughter.
Pecha-Kucha and Cass Cafe Graffiti
The other night I headed out with Karl to catch Volume 2 of Pecha Kucha at the DIA. There were well over 200 people in attendance, and the presentations did not disappoint. Of particular interest was the work of Neil Greenberg, who has created a huge map of a fake city dubbed “Fake Omaha.” He was welcoming suggestions for a catchier name, and during the intermission I heard someone ask, “Why not just Fauxmaha?” The next Pecha Kucha is scheduled for the Spring — and I’m already anticipating.
Also included in the evening’s activities was a journey to the men’s restroom at the Cass Cafe. I’ve now shot video of two separate men’s restroom’s adornments — and I’m thinking if I keep this up, I could probably string together a lengthier video with some interesting edits. This one’s rather choppy and unclear for reading – but still – I like the squiggles and whatnots. Apparently the Cass Cafe was awarded the 2008 Metro Times Best Bathroom Graffiti award — I would’ve handed it to the WAB.

Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks?

Moses has been staying with us for a few months now, but I only began trying to teach him this classic a couple weeks ago. Success.
Mr. Sandman
Twelve hurried seconds out of a busy day of morning appointments and evening work. I was a bit razzed and forgot which verse I was on:
Snow Days are here again

The skies opened up and sent heaven’s dandruff to the earth today – and Moses enjoyed himself thoroughly. This is just the beginning of what will likely be a long, dark, and cold winter. Michigan is apparently low on salt supply – so it’ll be interesting to see what happens as the days and months go on – and the snow continues to fall. The tires will likely be slipping all over the road at a much greater degree than in years past. Oh well — it’s always fun to enjoy the first snow…
Zombie Homecoming
Last night I went to a shindig with a bunch of people I didn’t know. This is how I dealt:

As you can hear – Will Ferrel was there. I still have red paint on my face.

Minneapolis Memory
Still fishing through the old videos – came across this one:

After a long evening on the town during PLA 08 – before throwing myself onto bed and into slumbers – I took it all in for a moment from my room at the Westin – and tried to balance out the chaos. I was grinning ear to ear while I filmed this — and it all looked much more wonderful at the time. Still – it’s interesting to look back on something so amazing, and be amazed, by my own amazement.
